Local Member of Parliament, Kate Griffiths, has today (Thursday 17th March) visited the National Forest Adventure Farm just outside Burton ahead of English Tourism Week (18th – 27th March).
The National Forest Adventure Farm offers visitors the opportunity to meet and feed a range of animals as well as outdoor and indoor play areas for children. The Farm is currently observing lambing season with new arrivals each day and also has Easter activities coming up in the near future too.
The local MP was shown around the site by Farm Director, Tom Robinson, who discussed upcoming events and future plans to extend the farm’s facilities, including a new function room which will be able to seat up to 200 people for wedding celebrations and other big occasions.
During the coronavirus pandemic, the National Adventure Farm, like many in the hospitality and tourism sector, received financial support from the Government to help see it through the most challenging period but it is now hoping for a boost in returning visitors to help its future success.
Commenting, Kate Griffiths MP said:
“It was wonderful to visit the National Forest Adventure Farm ahead of English Tourism Week and particularly to see the newborn lambs on a perfect spring morning.
“I am grateful to Tom for showing me around the farm and for sharing the challenges tourism businesses are currently facing. English Tourism Week is a great opportunity to explore what our country and its cultural attractions have to offer as well as supporting these local businesses in return.
“I would encourage all residents in Burton and Uttoxeter to visit a local attraction this weekend and to see what is on your doorstop, you might be surprised!”
Director of the National Forest Adventure Farm, Tom Robinson, said:
“I was pleased to show Kate around the National Forest Adventure Farm this morning and to highlight the fantastic facilities we have here, and the array of animals visitors can meet on their visit.
“I want to thank Kate for listening to the current concerns we have as a sector and agreeing to take those away to look into further. The English Tourism sector is a critical part of the country’s economy and we are looking forward to what the warmer months ahead have to offer.”
