Kate Griffiths, Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxeter, on Friday 1st October met with Police Commanders, Clair Langley and Scott Kidman, from East Staffordshire’s Neighbourhood Policing Team.
As part of the regular catch up between the MP and the town’s top police officers, updates were given on local policing performance and the Constabulary’s efforts to address community concerns.
Kate highlighted concerns she had received in her mailbox from constituents including local incidents of anti-social behaviour and speeding. The MP also took the opportunity to thank Staffordshire Police for the work they do tacking crime and keeping the local community safe.
The meeting came in the same week, Staffordshire’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Ben Adams, was awarded £550,000 in the third round of the Government's Safer Streets Fund. The Fund is designed to make public spaces safer, and the latest round of funding announced has a particular emphasis on the safety of women and girls.

“It was good to meet with Clair and Scott from the local policing team to discuss residents’ concerns. Engagement between the community and the police is hugely important and I will continue to ensure that constituents’ concerns with crime are raised and addressed appropriately.
“It is welcome that Staffordshire recently received an award of the Government’s Safer Streets Fund and it is good news that this cash will go directly to ensuring the safety of women and girls.”
