Burton and Uttoxeter’s MP, Kate Griffiths, has urged constituents to support local businesses and shops in the run up to Christmas after what has been a difficult year for the retail and hospitality sectors.
The MP visited a number of local retailers and business owners ahead of Small Business Saturday which took place last weekend (5th December), an annual event to showcase Britain’s small independent shops and promote the benefits of buying local. Kate has now called on residents to do the same whether that be for doing your usual shopping or for buying gifts.
Kate Griffiths has also urged constituents to remember to continue to follow all the public health guidelines and to be mindful of other during this critical period of keeping the coronavirus under control. Staffordshire is currently in Tier 3 of the Coronavirus restrictions levels which allows retail to be open, but shoppers must wear a mask in stores unless they are exempt and observe social distancing.
Kate said: “I was delighted to be out and about ahead of Small Business Saturday visiting just a few of our fantastic small businesses which are an important part of our local communities”.
“Locally, we have some of the most incredible small businesses and independent shops, but it has been a very difficult year for businesses everywhere. In the run up to Christmas, I would urge all of my constituents to please shop safely during this difficult time but also to shop locally”.
