Kate Griffiths MP has welcomed the news that Burton’s Brewhouse Arts Centre has been awarded £51,565 through the Government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund (CRF). This funding will help the Centre face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure they have a sustainable future, the Department for Culture, Media & Sport have announced today.
The Brewhouse is one of 588 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving a share of the £76m investment announced today, as part of a vital financial boost from the second round of the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund grants programme administered by Arts Council England.
The Brewhouse Arts Centre on Union Street in Burton is owned and operated by East Staffordshire Brough Council and offers a range of theatre shows, stand up comedy along with art classes for all ages. This funding will support the Centre through this difficult period and ensure they can continue providing valuable and enjoyable experiences to residents in the future.
Today’s recipients are those that applied for grants of under £1 million in the second round of the Culture Recovery Fund. This funding will help organisations create work and performances, and plan for reopening.
The funding distributed today follows £257 million awarded to 1385 organisations on Monday 12 October. Further announcements on the funding administered by Arts Council England will follow soon; applicants for grants of over £1 million, and those that applied to the Repayable Finance programme, will be notified of their outcomes shortly.

“This has been a difficult period for all those working in the arts and entertainment industry with large gatherings particularly curtailed. I met with the Culture Secretary this week to highlight the importance of supporting events and those working in the sector.
I am pleased today that the Culture Secretary has announced that the Brewhouse in Burton is to benefit from the second round of funding from the Culture Recovery Fund programme. The Brewhouse Centre provides residents with an exciting range of culture events right here on our doorstop and I am delighted this funding will help the team there continue offering these experiences to residents.
