Burton and Uttoxeter’s MP, Kate Griffiths, has got behind Royal Crown Derby’s campaign to raise money for the NHS Charites Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal. The Make a Mug, Make a Difference competition is asking children to submit designs with the chance of their design being chosen to be produced on 26,299 mugs, one for each day of the NHS’s 72 year history.
There are two entry categories, under 12’s and 12-18-year olds, and both winners will also receive a trip to London to visit the Houses and Parliament and the Victoria & Albert Museum to see their designs on display.
Both winning cups will be priced at £30 with every penny of profit going to the NHS Charites Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal which supports NHS staff and volunteers caring for COVID-19 patients. Mugs are available to pre-order immediately and each purchase includes a free ticket to tour the Royal Crown Derby factory and museum.
Kate said, “Ceramics are an incredible part of our regional heritage and continue to be a big employer locally with people commuting to Stoke and Derby. We have already seen many of our local employers and iconic brands step forward to see what they can do to help the national effort, so it is really great to see Royal Crown Derby launch this competition.
“The NHS is always there for us when we need it, now more so than ever before, so it is absolutely right we do all we can to support our NHS staff when they need us. I would encourage all children in Burton and Uttoxeter to take part in this competition and help raise money for the NHS Charities Together Appeal”.
The competition is now open to entries and will close at 4pm on May 7th 2020. For more information and details on how to enter visit: www.royalcrownderby.co.uk/makeadifference.
