The Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxeter, Kate Kniveton, has today (28/09/23) hosted another of her popular Jobs Fairs at the Pirelli Stadium.
This year’s event attracted even more local businesses than before, with 80 local companies advertising over 1,000 vacancies and opportunities. Businesses from all employment sectors were represented at the event and included Aldi, Molson Coors, East Midlands Airport, Elkes Biscuits, Punch Pubs, First Fence, and Hoar Cross Hall amongst many others.
The Department for Work and Pensions, who helped organise the event, were also offering CV and interview workshops to improve participants employability chances. For residents of Uttoxeter, free transport was put on by Burton Albion Community Trust to enable Ms Kniveton’s constituents to travel to the event and back for free. This year’s Jobs Fair was sponsored by JCB, Kammac and Cosy Direct.
Close to 1,000 jobseekers attended the event, hoping to secure interviews for potential job opportunities, another record figure.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“There has been a great buzz at the Pirelli Stadium today with my Jobs Fair taking place. It is great to see an even greater number of local employers meeting up with residents wanting to secure a new career opportunity.
“A key priority for the Government is growing the economy, and here in Burton and Uttoxeter it is clear that our businesses are investing and creating job opportunities. I want to wish all the very best to those who attended today’s event, looking for a job opportunity or their next step on the career ladder.
“I also want to thank the local DWP Office, Burton Albion, and Burton Albion Community Trust for helping to organise this year’s event, along with sponsors JCB, Kammac and Cosy who all helped to make the Jobs Fair possible.”
