Kate Kniveton, Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxeter, has today (17th February 2023) met with students at Paget High School in Branston to speak with pupils interested in politics and to congratulate staff on their recent ‘Good’ Ofsted rating.
East Staffordshire Borough Councillor Cllr. Patricia Ackroyd asked for Kate to visit the school along with Assistant Headteacher, Julie Butcher, to speak to students who had expressed an interest in politics. Ms Kniveton met and spoke with students about her role as an MP and how they can get into politics, answering their questions on a range of current affairs topics.
The local MP also met with staff and congratulated them on their Ofsted inspection back in October, finding out the following month that the Paget had made the progress required on previous visits to be awarded ‘Good’.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“It was wonderful to hear just before Christmas that Paget High School had improved education standards and was recognised by Ofsted as a ‘Good’ School.
“I was pleased to visit today in person and congratulate Assistant Headteacher, Julie Butcher, and her team on the excellent progress the school has made over the last couple of years, making improvements in all areas.
“I very much enjoyed speaking with students and discussing a range of issues with them. I want to thank Cllr Ackroyd for asking me to meet the students and I look forward to hearing how they get on with their studies and ambitions for the future.”
