East Staffordshire Borough Council is consulting on the next stage of The Maltings Regeneration project which will see significant investment into Uttoxeter town centre, ensuring it is an attractive place to visit and shop. The project includes investment in the shopping precinct, the empty Co-op building, the car park and the bus station.
Following on from the MP’s Uttoxeter Regeneration Survey in 2021, and further consultation work the Council has undertaken, Kate Kniveton has worked with Cllr George Allen, Leader of the East Staffordshire Borough Council, to ensure any new plans will include:
- Adequate public parking spaces; at least equal to what is currently available
- Improved bus station facilities
- Green routes and a pocket park
- Retail units fronting the High Street
ESBC is now looking for residents to give their views on a series of design concepts and on how to take forward plans for the Maltings precinct.
The Council has also arranged for a number of pop-up consultation events which residents are encouraged to take part in and have their say. You will find the ESBC team in Uttoxeter Town Hall on 25th February 9:30am – 1pm (Makers Market) and 8th March 4pm – 7pm.
The local MP is urging residents to have their say on the Maltings precinct concepts, both through ESBC's consultation hub and a survey on her own website.

That is why it is so important residents continue to have their input as the plans take shape and we can all be proud of the proposals to make this historic market town fit for the future.”
