Kate Kniveton, Member of Parliament for Uttoxeter, has paid a visit (26/01/23) to local business Tuffa UK Ltd, leading innovators of storage tank manufacturing, following an invitation from its Managing Director, James Shenton.
Ms Kniveton toured the Tuffa site on the Dovefields Industrial Estate along with Mr Shenton, who showcased the high-quality facilities to demonstrate why the Uttoxeter-based business was considered an industry expert in liquid storage and dispensing.
The local MP saw a demonstration of the equipment and discussed with Mr Shenton the significant growth the company was enjoying and the challenges the company and the sector were facing. Ms Kniveton considered a range of possible interventions and assistance with Mr Shenton to see what can be done to support and promote the employment opportunities the company has on offer locally.
During the visit, Ms Kniveton met with Operations Manager Kerry Shenton; Commercial Manager; Paul Owen; and Factory Manager Simon Flisher. The MP was also asked to present Production Operative Dave Brindley with a certificate as the winner of the company’s inaugural Monthly Ambassador for his outstanding contribution towards his peers.
The family-run business is keen to invest in its people and in offering something back to the broader community. This is why staff recently undertook first aid training to be first responders to incidents in the local area.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“Uttoxeter is home to industry giants such as JCB, and Tuffa is absolutely included in that category. It was lovely to be invited to tour Tuffa UK in Uttoxeter, which is a brilliant example of a family business creating innovative products made here in Britain.
“I was delighted to be asked to present their first Monthly Ambassador award. I congratulate its recipient, Dave Brindley, for his support towards his colleagues – well done, Dave!
“It is clear that Tuffa has a thriving and growing business, and it is great that they also have local employment opportunities for local people.”
Tuffa UK Managing Director, James Shenton, added:
“It was great to invite and welcome Kate Kniveton MP to Tuffa UK in Uttoxeter.
“It is essential to Tuffa that we share our story, success to date and future growth plans. Kate was very supportive and had a wealth of valuable information that was helpful towards our ambitions to grow the team.
“We have already started to utilise some of these suggested solutions and look forward to updating Kate on our progress.”
