Kate Kniveton, Member of Parliament for Uttoxeter, has visited a number of hugely popular local shops ahead of Small Business Saturday, taking place this coming weekend (Saturday 3rd December 2022).
Small Business Saturday is an annual event which highlights the success and value of small businesses and encourages consumers to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.
The local MP visited Edmonston’s Family Butchers, run by Dave and Becky Edmonston, who pride themselves on supporting local farmers and other local businesses in and around Uttoxeter. Having recently celebrated 15 years serving the residents of the town, the family butchers has an avid following amongst the community for its quality produce and customer service.
Ms Kniveton also visited the High Street gift shop, Daisy Chain, selling a range of unique gifts, including jewellery and home accessories as well as a wonderful seasonal range of gifts.
Uttoxeter’s MP then met with Jayne Thompson, the proprietor of the popular Old Saddlers Yard Café. Known for its home-cooked food and friendly, welcoming atmosphere, it serves traditional favourites that are perfect for the colder weather.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“In Uttoxeter, we have some fantastic small local businesses, from shops to cafes, which have served our community for many years, offering high-quality products and unbeatable customer service.
“This Saturday (3rd December) is Small Business Saturday and is an opportunity to remind us all of how important small independent local shops and businesses are to our local economy.
“It is also an important occasion to remind us to support them, particularly in the run-up to Christmas. That is why I am shopping local this Christmas and urging constituents to do the same this Saturday and all year round.”
