“Burton and Uttoxeter is consistently above the national average when it comes to ‘in work’ employment figures. Whilst this is good news, and shows we have a strong and vibrant local economy, it is really important that we continue to do all we can to support those looking for work to secure employment.
“I want to thank all those who took part in making today a success, but particular thanks must go to the local DWP office for helping to organise the Jobs Fair and to JCB and Unipart for co-sponsoring the event. In addition, thank you to Burton Albion Football Club for hosting the event and to Burton Albion Community Trust for putting on free transport for Uttoxeter residents.
“It has been a great event and I hope that employers and potential employees alike found today worthwhile which leads to new careers being forged.”
DWP Group Director, Debbie Woodcock, said:
“Kate Kniveton MP’s Jobs Fair has been a fantastic opportunity for residents of Burton, Uttoxeter and the surrounding areas to meet with local and national employers.
“It shows the art of the possible when there is true partnership between local stakeholders like the Member of Parliament, the DWP Office, the Chambers of Commerce and local employers.
“People have been coming along today and walking out with job interviews and job offers, ultimately that is what it’s all about and it’s great to see.”
