There is a lot of negative news currently, justifiably so, about the state of the global economy and the impact inflation and supply chain problems are having around the world.
There is of course understandable concern about the impact this is going to have on the cost of living and both candidates for the leadership of the Conservative Party are absolutely right in saying they will go further with measures to support families this coming winter.
A positive to take away from the UK economy right now is that we continue to have a good level of vacancy positions across many sectors of the labour market. This situation is no different to us locally which is why I am delighted to be hosting a Jobs Fair at the Pirelli Stadium in Burton on Thursday 29th September between 10am and 3pm.
This is open to all in the local community, whether you are looking for a job, apprenticeship, or for a change in career. There will be a wide range of businesses and employers taking part including, Molson Coors, Trent & Dove, First Fence, the local Hospital Trust and many more. This event is kindly being sponsored by JCB and Unipart (Part of the Jaguar Land Rover group), both organisations will also be showcasing job opportunities they have on offer and the careers and development they can offer to their expanding workforce.
Burton Albion Community Trust is kindly putting on a free shuttlebus to and from Uttoxeter Town Centre bus station to enable constituents in the west of the constituency visit the Jobs Fair easily. Please get in touch on my email address below if you would like to book a place on one of these return journeys.
I do hope you can attend and please spread the word far and wide, you never know who might be looking for a new opportunity and my Jobs Fair could be just the place to find it!
On an entirely separate matter, those of you who receive my emailed newsletter each month might have already spotted that I have changed my surname to my maiden name, Kniveton. This means over the coming days and weeks my details and profiles will be updated, including Facebook, Instagram and my website too (www.katekniveton.org.uk).
My email address to contact me on has also updated to [email protected]. Don't worry, my existing contact details will continue to work for a reasonable crossover period, and I will continue to monitor each inbox to ensure I am able to support any constituent who gets in touch.
