Kate writes a bi-weekly column for the Uttoxeter Echo. This column was originally featured in the 28th September print edition.
With September comes a return to normality with children returning to school and the end of the summer holiday period. But others might be looking for new beginnings entirely. And you wouldn’t be alone if you are thinking of looking for a new job. Studies have shown that September and October, like January and February, are the busiest months in the jobs market and the best months to get hired.
Tomorrow (Thursday 29th September), my Jobs Fair will be taking place at the Pirelli Stadium in Burton between 10am and 3pm. This is the perfect opportunity for all those looking for job, apprenticeship or simply a new challenge to meet with local employers with vacancies going.
There will be a wide range of businesses and employers taking part including, Molson Coors, Trent & Dove, First Fence, the local Hospital Trust and many more. This event is kindly being sponsored by JCB and Unipart (Part of the Jaguar Land Rover group), both organisations will be showcasing job opportunities they have on offer and the careers and development they can offer to their expanding workforce.
Representatives from the local branch of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Job Centre will also be on hand to offer participants the opportunity to take part in CV and interview workshops to improve their employability chances.
I have arranged transport for constituents in Uttoxeter to have return travel to the Pirelli Stadium -completely for free! Burton Albion Community Trust is kindly putting on a shuttlebus to accommodate travel between Uttoxeter Town Centre bus station and the Jobs Fair in Burton. Departure times are from Uttoxeter - 9:30am; Pirelli Stadium - 11:30am; Uttoxeter - 12:30pm and Pirelli Stadium - 2:30pm.
