The Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxeter, Kate Kniveton, has today (22/09/23) visited Winshill Medical Centre as part of their 20th Anniversary celebrations to mark two decades providing medical care for the local community.
The Local MP met with the Practice Manager Ryan Hampson-Miller, and his staff to hear about the commitment and the immense pride the medical team take in providing health services. In a recent GP Patient Survey, Winshill Medical Centre was voted "Best Practice in Burton Town" and ranked 4th best in East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire combined.
Earlier this year, the medical centre organised a community fun day, which saw nearly 2000 residents from Winshill and Brizlincote take part in an event offering over thirty NHS health checks and CPR training for more than 100 people.
Ms Kniveton also took time out of her visit to discuss with Mr Hampson-Miller and his team the current challenges facing the local medical centre. The Centre has seen an increase in the number of patients in recent years but is continuing to invest in its services and technology to provide the best experience for patients. One of the key constraints for the Winshill Medical Centre is the availability of building space. Ms Kniveton agreed to take this away and discuss this matter further with local council leaders and health authority managers.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“I was pleased to congratulate Ryan and his team at the Winshill Medical Centre on 20 years of providing excellent medical care to the community in Burton. Twenty years is quite the milestone, but it is important to recognise the work they do day in day out to care for residents and treat a wide range of ailments.
“GP surgeries across the country are facing increasing demands and new challenges. However, it is welcome that we have such dedicated professionals in Burton with a genuine desire to grow their medical practice and offer more healthcare services to residents in a community setting.
“I will do all I can as the local MP to support Winshill Medical Centre to rise to the current challenges and their own desire for more space to ensure that it is fit for the next twenty years.”
