Burton and Uttoxeter’s Member of Parliament, Kate Kniveton, visited Stapenhill Community Hub on Wednesday 10th April at Number One Ferry Street to meet with the volunteers and visitors to hear about the support and services on offer.
The café area is a registered ‘Warm Space’ and also a ‘Place of Welcome’, locations which members of the public are able to visit with an unconditional welcome to connect for a few hours each week.
The Hub is run by the Community Church Burton and managed by Community Development Manager, Anita Middleton and Senior Leader, Dawn Charles.
The local MP met with Anita, Dawn, and volunteers, as she attended the Hub’s Teapots meeting, a vintage style tearoom session for chat and fellowship for local residents.
On average, the Hub receives 168 visitors per week to one or more of the projects taking place. Other services offered by the Stapenhill Community Hub include an advice clinic and a food bank, as well as a youth drop-in session on Fridays after school.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“It was wonderful to be able to visit the Stapenhill Community Hub and meet with the team who provide a wide range of services to residents.
“Anita, Dawn and the whole team from the Community Church Burton do an incredible job supporting the community, providing a welcoming space for all ages and meeting a wide range of needs.
“Communities are made by having places like Stapenhill Community Hub where people can turn to in an hour of need. I pay tribute to Community Church Burton and their team for being such a cornerstone of Stapenhill life.”
