A recently opened specialist eye clinic on the Heritage Trade Park in Uttoxeter has welcomed Kate Kniveton, Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxeter, for a tour of its high-tech ophthalmology facilities.
Optegra Eye Health Care is a network of specialist eye hospitals and clinics across the UK that provide cataract and vision correction procedures. The new clinic, www.optegra.com/uttoxeter currently offers NHS cataract surgery to help reduce waiting lists and provide this sight-saving surgery to local residents, without delay.
Kate Kniveton visited the Optegra clinic on Town Meadows Way where she had the opportunity to meet the clinic manager and clinical team who will be providing cataract treatment to their patients. Staff at the clinic took the opportunity to thank Ms Kniveton for her support of their efforts to reduce long wait times for cataract treatments as a result of the pandemic.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“I was delighted to meet Mat Pickering, Regional Director for Optegra, along with his staff at their new clinic in Uttoxeter today. Following the coronavirus pandemic, like many minor surgery operations, it is important we do all we can to bring waiting times for cataract surgery down. It is encouraging that Optegra are working in partnership with the NHS to offer quick and easy access to free treatment for residents in the town and the wider area.
“Ensuring healthcare services are delivered as close as possible to residents has been something I have been campaigning on since my election. It is better for patients, and it is better for our town centres as well as easing the wider NHS pressures too. Well done to Optegra for setting up this new clinic in Uttoxeter and I wish Mat and the team the very best for the future.”
Mat Pickering, Regional Director for Optegra, said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Kate Kniveton to our new clinic and we would like to say thank you for her support.
“Across England, we are eager to support the NHS as ophthalmology is the second largest waiting list for treatment. We are so pleased to be offering local people surgery at this new clinic and commit to treatment within just six weeks of referral.
“Optegra is a well-established network with five-star facilities and leading ophthalmic surgeons providing the highest standards of care. Cataract patients simply need to ask their optician or GP to refer them to Optegra Eye Clinic Uttoxeter and we look forward to welcoming them.”
Patients can request referral to Optegra from their local optometrist or GP; and can be referred back to their community optometrist for their post-operation follow-up check, ensuring the greatest ease and convenience in their treatment journey.
