Burton and Uttoxeter Member of Parliament, Kate Kniveton, visited the de Ferrers Academy’s Trent Campus on Friday 1st December to meet with staff and students of the Burton school.
In October, Trent Campus was visited by Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted), for a full and robust two-day inspection to assess the school.
The following report concluded that the de Ferrers Academy was a ‘Good’ school across all judgement areas and the inspectors were incredibly complimentary of what they saw.
The local MP met with Kathy Hardy, Trust CEO; Ali Bickle Principal of de Ferrers Academy; Greg Hand, Head of Trent Campus and Vice Principal and Jared Barlow, Deputy Director for Ethics.
Following a tour of the school and the educational facilities, Ms Kniveton took part in a Q&A session with Year 12 and 13 students about Parliament and her role as a parliamentarian.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“I was delighted to be invited to the de Ferrers Academy’s Trent Campus to meet and spend time with students and staff.
“I was grateful for the opportunity to congratulate Greg, Head of the Trent Campus, and his team for a glowing Ofsted report, and it is clear to see from this visit why the inspectors judged the school to be ‘Good’.
“I very much enjoyed speaking with the Year 12 and 13 pupils too and answering their questions. They clearly have a bright future ahead and I want to once again express my thanks to their teachers who have done an incredible job creating the right learning environment at the Trent Campus.”
