Kate Kniveton MP has today (Friday 17th March) visited Burton Rugby Football Club to tour the Club's clubhouse and grounds. The local MP met with Club Chairman, Colin Grimsdell, Club President, Ian Cartwright, and Club Secretary, Claire Bradley, and heard an update on what has been happening at the Club, including increased participation.
The visit coincided with the announcement that locally founded business Kenect Recruitment had secured a new 3-year sponsorship deal with Burton Rugby Football Club. The deal includes the placement of Kenect Recruitment branding around the club, the pitch, and the main stand. Kenect is already a supporter of Burton RFC as a shirt sponsor for the U12 Boys team.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“It was good to be able to visit Burton Rugby Football Club again today and chat with Club Chairman, Colin Grimsdell, Club President, Ian Cartwright, and Club Secretary, Claire Bradley, about how important the support from residents and businesses is for the success of the Club.
“I want to thank Kenect Recruitment Directors, Jason Whittenham and Julien Smith, for their company’s sponsorship of our local rugby club which has allowed Burton RFC to make updates to their clubhouse, the pitch and their main stand.
“We are very fortunate to have businesses in our town that give back to their local community and I know that Kenect Recruitment’s partnership with Burton RFC is greatly valued by the Club’s leadership, allowing them to continue to support their sporting activities and club members.
“I would encourage all residents to support Burton RFC and go to watch a match at our local club!”
A spokesperson at the club said:
"This new deal is a most welcome boost to club finances, which will help us continue investment for the benefit of our members.”
“The club aspires to be the Community Rugby Club of Choice in the Midlands, providing opportunities for everyone in an atmosphere that is enjoyable, friendly, inclusive and safe; embracing the RFU’s Core Values.”
“Since moving to our new facilities at Battlestead Croft we have experienced considerable growth in all aspects from playing, social and critically the number of volunteers; spanning from the under 4’s, all mini/junior age groups through to the Senior men and women teams.”
“The support with Kenect is key to help facilitate this growth and in particular how they resonate with the community values of the club makes this partnership an excellent fit. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Kenect and offer a huge thank you to them for supporting us.”
Kenect Directors, Jason Whittenham and Julien Smith said:
"We are delighted and very humbled to be sponsoring a club with very similar morals to ourselves. The club is one of the oldest rugby clubs in the world, with a history dating from 1870 and are a credit to the great town of Burton.”
“The club arranges so many wonderful events for its members and the local community and have huge amounts of amazing volunteers, so it gives us a great sense of pride to be associated with them.”
“Since opening communications with the club before Christmas, they have been fantastic and very welcoming. The idea of this sponsorship was not only to help promote our brand but to do something to support the club and in turn the local community.”
“We look forward to a long-lasting relationship and working with them over the coming years. We also encourage anybody that’s not been to the club to go and attend a match if they can, it’s a great day out for all the family.”
