Local Member of Parliament, Kate Kniveton, has today (25/05/23) visited Russell Roof Tiles in Burton which has secured planning approval to expand and upgrade its factory site in the town to enable it to double capacity.
Work on the company’s significant local investment has already started and is due for completion in July 2024. The expansion is a multi-national coordination of the company’s supply partners and aims to meet the increasing demand for concrete roof tiles for new build homes, with Russel Roof Tiles already providing the majority of UK Housing builders with its products.
The local MP met with the company’s Managing Director, Andrew Hayward, for a tour of the site and to be shown the drawings of the plans for the expanded Burton factory. The project will also create an increase over time of approximately 25-30 jobs varying from no skill to semi-skilled workers as well as a boost to the local economy with extra revenue in the region to various logistic, engineering, retail, fuel & raw material suppliers.
Over last 10 years the company has grown to become the largest independently owned concrete roof tile and accessory business in the UK, growing its workforce from 100 to just under 160 across three sites. Russell Roof Tiles is also the main partner and sponsor of Burton Albion Football Club and assists many local charities in Burton too, including Burton Soup Kitchen, Burton YMCA, Staffordshire Blood Bikes and Burton & District Mind.
