During the MPs visit, Kate met with carers along with Rod Gent and other voluntary Rotarian staff to listen to their experiences and what attending the café means to them. The support team have also set up similar carers’ groups in Repton and Uttoxeter as well.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP:
“Carers make a valuable contribution providing support to family members, friends and neighbours. Being a carer can sometimes feel lonely which is why it is important to be able to meet others with similar caring responsibilities.
“I was delighted to meet with local carers at the Plus Café in Burton. They are a really lovely group, friendly and welcoming.
“I applaud Rod and his team, for their initiative and providing the support they do each week to carers in our area. I look forward to visiting again soon.
