Local Member of Parliament, Kate Kniveton, has met with the team of Burton and District’s Chamber of Commerce to discuss priorities for the year ahead on the local economy and support to help local businesses grow.
The MP met with the new Divisional Leader for Burton Chamber of Commerce, Mr Richard Brooks, who joined the Chamber back in October and previously met Ms Kniveton at Burton Business awards, an event showcasing the talent of local entrepreneurs and companies.
Ms Kniveton met Mr Brooks alongside the Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, Henrietta Brealey, and Burton and District Chamber of Commerce President, Shaun Gray.
The group discussed challenges and opportunities that the local economy and high streets would likely face in 2023 as well as what Burton’s Chamber could do to support local businesses. As part of these discussions, there was unanimous agreement that Kate Kniveton MP’s Jobs Fair, held in September 2022 which the Chamber took part in, was hugely successful and they would be very keen for the benefit of local employers to repeat again.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“I was pleased to meet with Richard, Henrietta and Shaun from the Chamber of Commerce. We have many wonderful local businesses and truly inspiring entrepreneurs, many also wanting to give back to the community too.”
“Our local employers, like those across the UK, face a huge amount of uncertainty this year with the global economy as it is. Organisations such as Burton Chamber of Commerce do an incredible job supporting their members, offering tailored support and networking opportunities.
“It was lovely to welcome Richard to the local Chamber team, and I will continue to be in touch with him on a regular basis over the coming months.”
