‘I understand the proposals to relocate the National Brewery Centre will be a concern to residents who, like me, care deeply about Burton’s brewing heritage and the pride we take in being the home of British brewing. I have been in touch with Molson Coors regarding this decision, who have confirmed for me their commitment to Burton and ensuring their head office remains in the town. Whilst that is important, it is vital that we don’t lose our heritage, and more needs to be done to protect this for Burton’s future.
‘It has been proposed that Bass House might be a possible option in the town for the exhibits, and whilst I am reassured that this has been welcomed by the National Brewery Heritage Trust who run the Centre, I am also keen that the larger exhibits, vehicles and horses are also housed within our town. I will be working with ESBC and Molson Coors to see what options might be available for this.
‘I know the news of this change will be particularly devastating to those who have weddings and other large events planned after the 31st October. If you are in this position, and need some further help, please do contact me and I will do what I can to assist.
‘I have further meetings arranged this week to discuss the way forward, ensuring that Burton’s heritage is maintained, and will have further updates for residents following the period of National Mourning.’
