Burton and Uttoxeter's Member of Parliament, Kate Griffiths MP, has today (9th February 2022) written to the headteachers of local schools following the Government’s announcement that it was reopening its School Rebuilding Programme for the next round of applications.
Last year, 100 schools were selected by the Department for Education to benefit from the School Rebuilding Programme which will see education facilities rebuilt or refurbished with 500 schools in total set to benefit over the next decade.
Ms Griffiths has written to local school leaders urging them to strongly consider a bid for their school for the benefit of their pupils and staff.
The MP has also said that parents should encourage their child’s school to make a nomination if they feel there are improvement works to be made to the school building.
Commenting, Kate Griffiths MP said:
“We all want to ensure that our children have the best possible start in life and get a good education. A key fundamental for learning is making sure that the environment and facilities children and young people have are modern and up to date to cater for their development.
“The School Rebuilding Programme is an excellent opportunity headteachers have to make the case to the Government that their school is deserving of upgrades. I want to see as many schools as possible in East Staffordshire make bids to the Programme so that our children may benefit from upgraded learning facilities.”
Nominations for the School Rebuilding Programme are open until 3rd March and all bids must be made by the responsible body for the school building.
