Local MP, Kate Griffiths, met with the Founder and Director of Burton Addiction Centre (BAC), Noreen Oliver MBE and also toured the facilities.
The Centre, which is based in Station Street, has been running since 1998 and its services are renowned for their person-centred care approach and having a track record of successful recovery rates. Noreen Oliver showed Kate around the Centre, touring the medical centre facilities and observing a therapy session where people were able to openly share their stories and their path to recovery.
In addition to the health and wellbeing support, Langan’s Tearooms just down the road from the main centre, provides opportunities to individuals to gain employment experience and vital skills for returning to the workplace. The money raised in the tearooms goes back into community services and further opportunities to those individuals who have undergone rehabilitation at the BAC Centre.

“We are incredibly lucky to have such first-rate rehabilitation services here in Burton. They have helped so many people and hearing the individual stories today really highlights just what a difference the services BAC provides makes.”
Noreen Oliver MBE added:
“It was great to welcome Kate to BAC today to see what we do to support those individuals wishing to turn their lives around.
“Addiction is a complex matter which is different for everyone but we focus on the individual and always like to show community leaders just how effective this approach is.”
