Member of Parliament for Burton and Uttoxeter, Kate Griffiths, yesterday (20th July) met with Staffordshire Police’s Chief Constable, Chris Noble, following the decision taken by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) to place the force into special measures.
Ms Griffiths met the County’s top cop alongside her Staffordshire MP colleagues in Parliament to hear from Chief Constable Noble about his plans to turn the current situation around within Staffordshire Police and how measures he has already put in place are taking affect.
Chris Noble was appointed Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police in October 2021 and last month overhauled the structure of the local constabulary with a new local policing model. This new way of working is intended to improve community policing with enhanced local relationships and deliver better response times.
Commenting, Kate Griffiths MP said:
“My constituents in Burton and Uttoxeter, and those of my colleagues across Staffordshire, expect and deserve a first-class Police service which they can rely on should they need help.
“I am grateful to the Chief Constable of Staffordshire Police, Chris Noble, for coming to Parliament to outline his plans to improve and take our local police service forward.
“It is important to highlight that many of the problems identified by HMIC are legacy issues and Chris has made a number of changes to Staffordshire Police since his appointment as Chief Constable late last year, including the new community policing model.
“My Parliamentary colleagues and I will continue to support Staffordshire Police in serving the residents of our great county but we will also act as a critical friend wherever necessary to ensure that our constituents get the service they expect from the Police.
