Kate Kniveton, Member of Parliament for Burton, has welcomed the Government extending changes to alcohol licensing rules which will allow pubs to continue selling takeaway pints as they did during the pandemic, without the need to go through the process of applying and paying for additional licences.
The Government announced over the weekend that it would extend takeaway licensing rules for pubs and bars throughout England and Wales until 2025.
Commenting, Kate Kniveton MP said:
“During the pandemic, allowing pubs to serve takeaway pints not only provided them with a lifeline when they needed it most but an opportunity to do things differently.
“I have heard from many of our local publicans how takeaway pints was a popular addition for many of their patrons and they would like to continue this offering. However, many can be put off bythe sometimes seemingly bureaucratic process and so the Government’s announcement of an extension will be very welcome here in Burton, the home of British brewing.”
